Home lifters building a loadable dumbbell set-up get 35 kg of tri-grip rubber-encased plates plus two 20-inch Olympic dumbbell handles and spring collars (45 kg all up with the two 5 kg handles). The plate mix runs 4 x 5 kg, 4 x 2.5 kg and 4 x 1.25 kg, so you can build each dumbbell up in 2.5 kg steps (a 1.25 kg plate each side).
It suits anyone wanting adjustable dumbbells without a rack of fixed pairs, with knurled chrome handles and 15.5 cm loadable sleeves. The tri-grip plates and 50 mm bores also fit standard Olympic bars, so the same set does double duty across your home or commercial floor.
What makes this set is the dumbbell handles: two 20-inch Olympic bars with knurled grips and 15.5 cm loadable sleeves, so you build adjustable dumbbells alongside your plate loading.
The trade-off is the top plate here is 5 kg, so splitting the set evenly gives you 22.5 kg per dumbbell, handle included. I'd add more 5 kg plates as you get stronger.

Each plate is wrapped in heavy duty rubber over an integrated steel ring, so set-downs land with a dull thud instead of the clang you get from bare cast iron.
The rubber also means the plates sit against your floor and bar without scuffing either.
What this means for you: If you lift at home on a wood or tiled floor, the rubber takes the brunt of every set-down.
The Tri-Grip shape gives each plate three moulded hand openings, so you can carry, load and strip the bar without pinching your fingers against the collar.
What this means for you: Loading dumbbells one plate at a time is a lot less fiddly when every plate has a proper handle.
Every plate has a 50mm centre hole, so the set drops straight onto any Olympic barbell or the included dumbbell handles.
That keeps the plates useful well beyond the handles in the box if you add a barbell later.
What this means for you: Buy these for the dumbbells now and they still load your Olympic bar when your set-up grows.
The package pairs the plates with two chrome-plated steel dumbbell handles and spring collars, so you have a ready-to-use adjustable dumbbell set out of the box.
A 15.5 cm loadable sleeve on each handle takes the smaller plates for finer weight jumps.
What this means for you: Knurled grips give you a secure hold once your palms get sweaty on higher-rep sets.
The set totals 45 kg: 35 kg of plates plus two 5 kg handles. The mix of 5kg, 2.5kg and 1.25kg plates lets you build each dumbbell in small, even steps.
What this means for you: The small 1.25kg plates matter most: they let you progress a movement by just a couple of kilos rather than jumping too far too soon.

You get 35 kg of Tri-Grip Olympic plates: 4 x 5kg, 4 x 2.5kg and 4 x 1.25kg, all 50mm bore. Add the two 20-inch chrome-plated dumbbell handles (5 kg each) and two spring collars, and the set totals 45 kg. It's a ready-to-load pair of loadable dumbbells with room to scale the weight up or down.
Each handle has a 15.5 cm loadable sleeve, so your max depends on how you split the plates. Split the set evenly (a 5kg, 2.5kg and 1.25kg per side) and you're at 22.5 kg per dumbbell including the handle.
The plates have a 50mm centre hole, so they fit any standard Olympic bar or Olympic sleeve, including the included dumbbell handles. If your bar is a 25mm or 28mm standard-size bar, these won't fit. Check your bar's sleeve diameter before ordering: Olympic means 50mm, and that's what this set is built for.
The three cut-out grips make the plates easy to carry and load one-handed, which matters when you're changing weights between sets. The rubber encasing with integrated steel rings keeps them quieter on the floor and kinder to your flooring than bare steel. For home training where you're loading and unloading often, that handling difference earns its keep.
Not much. The plates stack neatly on a rack or in a corner, and the two 20-inch handles store on a wall bracket or flat on a shelf. No assembly footprint to plan around like a machine. I'd suggest a small plate tree or storage stand to keep everything off the floor and the rubber plates from leaning out of shape.
Barely any. Slide the plates onto the dumbbell handles, secure them with the included spring collars, and you're training. No tools needed. The only setup decision worth making is where you'll store the plates so you're not hunting for the right weight mid-workout.
