Your treadmill's speed drives your runner through virtual worlds, alongside everyone else running there at the same time. Group runs, races, workouts and training plans, all from your treadmill at home.
In Zwift's own words, "Running on Zwift is free." You need a free Zwift account, and that's it.
Zwift names one running feature that needs a paid membership: automatic incline, which works on a single treadmill, the Wahoo KICKR RUN. On your ON:PACE you set the incline yourself anyway, so running costs you nothing.
Running also stays available if you ever cancel or pause a membership, so a cyclist in the house can stop paying and you keep running.

Pick a route and run, follow a workout or a plan, or line up with other runners at the start of a race.
Choose a world and a route from the Home Screen and start running. The screen shows your speed, distance, time and route progress, with a MiniMap of what's coming and its gradient. Pair a heart rate strap and your heart rate shows too.
Add a target for the run, like a distance, a time or calories, and turn on HoloReplay to race a replay of your own best effort on the route. Other runners can send you Ride Ons, a thumbs-up as they pass.
Zwift's workouts show a suggested pace for every block, and you set the treadmill's speed to match. Enter your recent times for a mile, 5K, 10K, half or full marathon in your profile and the paces fit you; if you don't know them, Zwift works them out as you run.
Use TrainingPeaks, COROS, Final Surge or Intervals.icu? Workouts you schedule there show up in Zwift, ready to run.
Enrol in a plan and Zwift lines up the workouts week by week. Plans Zwift has published for runners include the ones below. Finish about 80% of them and you earn the plan, plus a pair of training-plan socks for your runner. Workouts you run outside can be ticked off with I Did It.

Events are scheduled group runs, races and workouts with a mass start. Sign up in the Zwift Companion app or at zwift.com/events, join up to 30 minutes before, and Zwift teleports you to the start line, so you never have to step off the treadmill. You don't steer: Zwift keeps you on course.
Races are split into groups by pace, including walk/run events for everyone.
Group A5K under 21 minutes
Group B5K in 21 to 25 minutes
Group C5K in 25 to 30 minutes
Group D5K over 30 minutes
Group EWalk/run, with walking breaks
A Meetup is a private group run for up to 100 people, set up in the Companion app for any world. Clubs run their own private events, and you can join up to 50 of them. Creating a Meetup or a club needs a membership.
You earn XP for every 250 m and every 100 calories, with extra for finishing routes, and levelling up unlocks running kit and shoes for your runner. Badges mark your first 5K, 10K, half and full marathon, lifetime distance, and mile times from under 9 minutes to under 5. Routes with a badge award it the first time you finish them.
Watopia is always open. The other worlds take turns as guests on a monthly schedule, which you'll find on the Routes tab in the game.

Your ON:PACE sends its belt speed to Zwift over Bluetooth, and your runner moves at exactly the pace you're running.
Plenty of treadmills can't tell Zwift how fast you're going, so their owners strap a sensor to a shoe. Yours sends its belt speed over Bluetooth FTMS, so you pair the treadmill itself as your speed source and run.
SOYO 51.0 to 14.0 km/h
KAZE 51.0 to 16.0 km/h
KAZE 71.0 to 18.0 km/h
Zwift never changes a treadmill's speed, and it only changes the incline on one machine, the Wahoo KICKR RUN. On your ON:PACE you set both from the console. Keep an eye on the gradient on the MiniMap and you can raise the incline for the climbs, up to 15%.
If you'd like the incline to follow the road on its own, that's what Kinomap does.
Zwift runs on iPhone, iPad, Android, Apple TV, Mac and Windows. Zwift doesn't recommend AirPlay or Chromecast, because a game lags when it's streamed. So rather than mirroring it to a KAZE's touchscreen, run it on a tablet on the console, a laptop beside the treadmill, or an Apple TV on your TV.

They do different things, and plenty of people use both. Zwift is a game world: free to run, with group runs, races and levels, and you set the incline yourself. Kinomap is real roads, filmed around the world, and it's the one that moves your ON:PACE's incline for you. It's a paid app with a free version.
Zwift is free to download on your phone, tablet, computer or Apple TV. Create a free account, and when it asks, pick Run rather than Ride.
Power it on so its Bluetooth is awake, and close any other app that's connected to it, like Kinomap. Zwift may not find a treadmill that's already talking to another app.
On the Paired Devices screen, choose Run, then Run Speed, pick your treadmill from the list and tap Close. Add a heart rate strap the same way if you have one, then tap OK. Start the belt and your runner moves at your pace.
Yes. Zwift's own words are "Running on Zwift is free." The one running feature it names as needing a membership is automatic incline, and that only works on the Wahoo KICKR RUN.
No. Your ON:PACE sends its belt speed to Zwift over Bluetooth, so the treadmill is your speed source.
No. You set your pace on the console and your runner follows it. In a workout, Zwift shows a target pace for you to match. Incline is up to you too.
Check Bluetooth is on for the device running Zwift, and on a phone or tablet that location services are on too. Close any other app connected to the treadmill, make sure you're on the Run pairing screen rather than Ride, and switch the treadmill off and on to wake it.
On an Apple TV, you can connect three Bluetooth devices at most, and the remote counts as one. The Zwift Companion app on your phone can pass the treadmill through instead. Still stuck? Call us and we'll talk you through it.
You can try, but Zwift doesn't recommend AirPlay or Chromecast, because games lag when they're streamed. A tablet on the console, a laptop, or an Apple TV on your TV will give you a smoother run.
A free phone app from Zwift. During a run it works as a remote and a second screen, with the map, Ride Ons and messages. The rest of the time it's where you sign up for events, set up Meetups, join clubs and connect Strava.
Yes. Connect them in the Companion app and every run you save uploads to Strava, Garmin, adidas, MapMyFitness, Wahoo and others automatically.
Yes. Any heart rate monitor that broadcasts Bluetooth or ANT+ works, paired on the same screen as your treadmill. Some events ask for one.
Yes. Zwift is an online game, so it needs a connection the whole time. Zwift recommends 3 Mb/s or faster.
Yes, each with their own free Zwift account. If anyone buys a membership, it covers their profile only.
Give us a call and we'll walk you through it, step by step, while you're standing at the treadmill.
